It is in 1961 that Vittorio Barberani began to bottle his own wines on the shores of Lake Corbara, south east of the stunning village of Orvieto, Umbria. He, along with his brothers, also owned the three most important bars of the region, which helped to promote and establish Barberani Wine Company. Today, Vittorio’s grandsons Niccolo and Bernardo run the 50 ha certified organic estate. All the vineyards lie on hills overlooking Lake Corbara, which benefits from a unique micro climate. The soils, as is the case throughout the Orvieto area, are of volcanic, sedimentary and calcareous-clayey origin and have always been cultivated in a natural way without the absolute use of chemical products. Vinification is an alliance of tradition and modernity. The use of sulfite is judicious and kept at low levels.

Organic. 70% Grechetto, 30% Trebbiano Procanico from two vineyards, overlooking Lago di Corbara, rooted in sedimentary soils, rich in limestone, marine fossils and pebbles. Harvested by hand. Varietals are vinified separately. Pre cold maceration followed by temperature controlled fermentation with indigenous yeasts in tanks. Aged 8 months in stainless steel tanks.

The nose opens with aromatic notes of green apple and almond. The round palate offers juicy white peach and ripe Bartlett pear accented hints of almonds. Moderate acidity gives it a clean finish. An easy-drinking wine, best suited as an aperitivo, but also friendly enough for seafood appetizers, grilled fish, or white meat.
