Headquartered at the Château de Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaines & Maison Famille Picard represents 135 hectares of vines in property, including 35 in the Côte de Beaune with Au Pied du Mont Chauve, and 100 in the Côte Châlonnaise with four different estates: Château de Davanay, Domaine Voarick, Domaine Champs-Perdrix, Domaine Levert Barrault. All the estates are certified organic / biodynamic and are under the supervision of CEO Francine Picard, daughter of founder Michel Picard. Sorting, pressing, fermentation, racking and bottling is all carried out according to the lunar calendar. Only natural yeasts are used during fermentation and particular attention is paid to the selection of oak casks as well as to the bottling date, in order to emphasize the different characteristics of each site.

Biodynamic. The Clos des Fiètres is a small climat of barely more than one hectare mid-slope above the village of Aloxe-Corton. It is one of the 19 sub Grand Crus of Corton. Due to a very limited production, it is difficult to find in the markets. Most of it is sold under the Hospices de Beaune Cuvée Charlotte Dumay label. The hard limestone bedrock is deeper. The soils are softer. In fact, one section of this plot was used as a cemetery in the Carolingian period (think Charlemagne: 600 to 900 BC)

Roasted earth and smoke surround subtle cherry on the nose of this wine. That roasted notion, with a slight edge of bitterness, wraps itself around soft, ripe but fresh dark cherry on the firm palate, creating an impression of smokiness. Tannins brush gently and provide a fitting frame.
