Lua Cheia-Saven is a Portuguese wine producer founded by winemaker Francisco Baptista and businessman Manuel Dias in 2009. Manuel passed away in 2019 and his legacy has been preserved by his daughter lara. Lua Cheia-Saven owns 5 different wineries across Northern Portugal. They also own over 40 hectares of organically farmed vineyards in Vinho Verde and Douro. They have partnered with local growers to gain access to an extra 200 organically farmed hectares in Alentejo and Dâo. Winemaking is traditional with a modernist approach. 100% Loureiro - Located in the northwest of Portugal, Vinho Verde has long been known for its vibrant fruit, low alcohol and refreshing qualities. It is an ideal wine pairing for salads, seafood and Asian cuisine, and can be served alone or as an aperitif.
A lovely pale yellow in the glass, enticing on the nose with aromas of poached pear, ripe apple, lemon pudding and briny mineral notes. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-plus-bodied with a mouthful of fresh fruit that mirrors the nose, with juicy acidity and a refreshing finish.

Douro is divided into three sub-regions, Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. Baixo Corgo, under the direct influence of the Serra do Marão, is the coolest and rainiest sub-region, the most fertile and with the highest density of vines. Cima Corgo is known as the heart of Douro, where many of the wines from the upper end of the Port wine segment are born. Douro Superior, the largest sub-region, is the hottest, driest and most extreme, but also the least rugged, marked by dryness and hellish summers. 45% Touriga Franca, 30% Touriga Nacional, 25% Tinta Roriz (Aragonez). Francisco Baptista’s intention is to seek out the acidic freshness of Baixo Corgo, the balance and complexity of Cima Corgo and the ripe fruit of Douro Superior Hand harvested in small boxes. Destemmed and crushed. Aged 10 months in 70% used barrels and 30% tanks.Tannins and dark-black fruits reveal a classically structured Douro wine. The aromatic complexity is boosted by notes of blackberry, leather, and spices. The elegantly integrated tannins are polished and bring light vanilla notes to this well balanced red. A very versatile wine with food.

Old Vines field blend with 15 different grape varietals from the schistous soils of Cima Corgo (Martim, Murça). Hand harvested in small boxes. Indigineous yeasts. Aged 8 months in tanks.Fresh, zesty pear and melon fruit with a fine chalky effect on the nose, suggesting the dry rocky Douro landscape. Lovely freshness on the palate, lemon and grapefruit pith, lively and mouth-watering and that chalkiness also in the texture. Balanced and refreshing.
